Commemorative boards
Commemorative boards (“Toba” in Japanese) are made from 100% rift / semi rift lumber. Quality demands are very high for these products. They must be:
- knotless
- free of faults
- without discoloration
- straight-grained
- finely textured
in short: made from the best the fir has to offer.
The boards are manufactured in three quality grades: A, B and C.
Usage:
Commemorative boards play an important role in Japanese Buddhism. Comparable to flower arrangements, the boards will be painted by monks and then put on graves once a year to commemorate the deceased.
